LEAD ACCOUNTING ASSOCIATE

Position Description

Friday Consulting seeks a Lead Accounting Associate to provide accounting and administrative support on client projects. This is an hourly paid position that offers professional development opportunities in a growing business. Friday Consulting fosters an atmosphere of open communication and collaborative learning.

This position reports to Friday Consulting’s Principal and is approximately 25-30 hours per week. Work-load varies throughout the week and from week to week.  However, you are expected to be available a minimum of two business hours each day, Monday through Friday, and to respond to email once a day during the workweek.  The Lead Accounting Associate will work primarily remotely, with occasional in person meetings with Friday Consulting team and on site with clients. Friday Consulting uses Xero.com and Quickbooks Online for bookkeeping.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to providing accounting and administrative support for Friday Consulting and its clients as follows:

  • Perform a variety of routine and non-routine clerical/accounting functions, in accordance with GAAP and Friday Consulting policies and procedures
  • Manage accounts payable and process payments to vendors
  • Manage and monitor accounts receivable
  • Reconcile bank, credit card, and accrual accounts
  • Generate payroll reporting and process payments
  • Generate weekly client reporting as needed
  • Cash Flow forecasting and management
  • Prepare monthly close and issue monthly financial statements
  • Process state and local sales, payroll, and property tax filings
  • Assist with year end close and work as a liaison to CPA to assure proper income tax filing
  • Manage client relationships via exemplary customer support
  • Delegate and monitor completion of lower level tasks to Accounting Associates
  • Provide ad-hoc administrative and special project support as needed

Qualifications and skills:

  • Minimum 5 years of small business accounting/bookkeeping experience resulting in the development of a deep understanding of accrual-based accounting principles and exposure to varied business models
  • Small business operational experience a plus
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Superb verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized, a master at managing details and juggling multiple deadlines
  • Minimum 2 years experience working with Quickbooks and/or Xero online accounting software
  • Familiarity with Google Drive, Bill.com, Gusto, Minutedock, and Tsheets or similar applications
  • Previous experience leading a small team also a plus
  • Interest in food and social entrepreneurship
